My Name is Queena & I’m a Survivor

Welcome to my website! Over the last several years, I’ve battled some tough obstacles. It hasn’t been easy, but my fight goes on every day, as miracles continue to take place in me.Many have followed my story over the years and have come to know me as the Bloomingdale Library Survivor. Their prayers, donations and support that have provided so much comfort to my family and me since my life took a different direction in April 2008.

I want to express my thanks to God and my amazing community for so much support, and offer this glimpse into my life to let everyone know how their prayers and support are making a difference in my recovery. My sister Anna often refers to the quote from the Chaos Theory, “It has been said that something as small as the flutter of a butterfly’s wing can ultimately cause a typhoon halfway around the world.”I’m on my way to becoming that typhoon!  Please share this website with your friends and family. I hope that they too will find inspiration and motivation from my story. Thank you for visiting and for your continued prayers and support!

Watch The Inspirational story

Queena is a vibrant, young lady that was affected by traumatic brain injury at the age of 18 in April of 2008 during her senior year. The injury left her with many disabilities and changed her life forever. Prior to the injury, Queena was an honor student in high school who spent most of her time with her nose stuck in a book. She was well-known among her classmates as a funny, dorky and sweet friend who loved all things pink. Queena had a big heart and volunteered her time at hospices. She was also highly involved in the Best Buddies program at her school and formed one-to-one friendships with students with disabilities. Queena was fun-loving and was a part of every extracurricular imaginable. She joined the student government and she played volleyball and soccer.

Queena's mother vanna

Vanna Nguyen is a refugee from South Vietnam and the mother of the Bloomingdale Library Attack Survivor, Queena. She devotes her life to Queena’s full-time care and advocates for special needs and justice for victims of domestic, sexual, and physical abuse. She lives in Florida with her partner, Robert; Queena; and her two Shih Tzu dogs, Charlie and Princess. Her other daughter, Anna, lives nearby with her husband, Jonathan.

Vanna’s wish is that this book’s proceeds can support ongoing expenses through Hope Heals the Brain, Inc. and Queena’s Medical Trust Fund. If you would like to make a donation to help Queena, please visit www.joinqueena.com/donate.
