About Jasmin, Churchill, and Queena
Jasmin is a 13 year old girl who was on vacation with her family in Mexico and was involved in a tragic accident that claimed the lives of her parents and grandparents and has left her in critical condition. Her family was able to raise funds to bring her back to the US and she is currently in ICU at a local Tampa hospital. We are raising funds to help with her continued medical care. Jasmin will soon be moved to a rehabilitation facility in Jacksonville; we are hoping to raise funds to help the family with associated travel & living expenses as her Aunt has assumed all primary caregiver responsibilities and her family is located in Manatee county.
Churchill is a 40 year old woman who was diagnosed with a brain tumor and underwent surgery in 2021. The surgery was only able to remove part of the tumor, and she was left in a coma for several months as a result. The surgery and remaining tumor has left her unable to walk, stand, move, or shower on her own. We hope to raise funds to help the family purchase a wheelchair accessible vehicle for Churchill as she has been unable to leave her house for over a year. This means she’s unable to attend appointments, therapies, or see her three young children regularly.
Queena was brutally raped, beaten and left to die outside of a library in a suburb of Tampa, Florida in 2008. Equipped with an incredible will to survive, Queena did not die that night and has spent the last 14 years of her life working hard to recover from the brutal attack. Queena cannot walk independently, talk, see, or eat on her own, but she continues to work hard in therapy and make improvements. Queena requires around-the-clock care and attends regular physical, occupational and experimental therapies to aid her recovery, as she slowly makes strides toward regaining her own normalcy every day. The community can follow Queena’s progress on her website JoinQueena.com. Medicare only covers physical therapy, while nearly $50,000 is required annually for all of the treatments that have helped Queena make such progress. These additional expenses are funded through the generosity of the community and donations from supporters like you.
Queena’s sister, Anna, started a 501c3 non-profit organization called Hope Heals The Brain Inc. in hopes of continuing to raise funds and awareness for families and individuals affected by traumatic brain injuries in the Central Florida region.
