A lot of people enjoyed watery pursuits this weekend, but Queena Vuong’s fun stands out.
The woman known for surviving an attack at the Bloomingdale library in 2008 splashed Saturday with Winter and Hope, the Clearwater Marine Aquarium’s famed dolphins.
Queena, through her family’s support and determination, continues to serve as an inspiration even though the attack left her unable to walk, talk, see or eat on her own. She communicates through widening her eyes, smiling (beautifully) and clenching her fists. She uses facial expressions to choose the music she wants to hear.
The cost of rehabilitation remains constant, as does the threat of her medical aid being cut in half. Queena and her sister Anna are seeking sponsors and participants for the Hope Classic, a July 31 fundraiser at Topgolf. For more information, go to joinqueena.com/fundraisers. …
