About fifty people gathered at a church in Brandon on Sunday afternoon to pray for Queena.
She was sexually assaulted by Kendrick Morris in 2008 outside of a library. An appeals court ruled recently that his sentence of sixty-five years was unconstitutional, because he was a juvenile when the crime occurred.
Anna Donato is Queena’s sister. She said the family is very nervous about the judge’s ruling on Thursday
“It could be reduced but at the same time the prosecutors asked the judge to give Morris life,” said Donato.
Queena is in a wheelchair and still suffers from the attack that happened nearly ten years ago.
“We feel like she is serving a life sentence she will not get the opportunity to get a re-sentencing and there are a lot of things that she can’t do that he can,” said Donato.
A Hillsborough County Judge will re-sentence Morris on Thursday.
